SoloBeauté FAQ

SoloBeauté is a Taiwan-based app for renting beauty workspaces by the hour: nail, lash, facial, brow and other beauty professionals can rent workspaces that hosts have already set up. Below are the questions we hear most about finding a space, booking, payment, listing a space as a host, and brand pages for pros.

Finding and booking a space

What is SoloBeauté?

SoloBeauté is a Taiwan-based hourly beauty workspace rental service: hosts list fully equipped beauty workspaces, and independent beauty professionals (lash, nail, brow and more) book them by the hour through the SoloBeauté app. It was co-founded by engineer Jasper Tsai and beauty professional Meigo Liu. SoloBeauté is not a cosmetics or makeup brand, is not affiliated with Solone, and is not a beauty-expo brand. Consumer booking of beauty services is not open yet.

How do I find a space and book a time slot?

Open the SoloBeauté app and filter by area, equipment and price on the map or in the list; some spaces also have a 3D tour. When you find one that fits, message the host to confirm the details, then send a booking request for the host to confirm.

How does booking a space work?

Find a suitable space in the SoloBeauté app and check the photos, equipment, price and minimum booking time; if you have questions, message the host directly. Pick a date and time slot and send a booking request. The booking is confirmed only once the host accepts it, and the app notifies you. On the day, arrive as agreed and pay the rent to the host in cash on site. Hosts can accept or decline requests, so keep an eye on your app notifications after sending one.

What kinds of beauty services can I use a space for?

There are spaces suited to nails, lashes, facials, brow and lip embroidery, makeup and more. Equipment varies from space to space; the app lists each space's equipment and the services the host recommends, so check before you book.

Are there studios suited to brow and lip embroidery that I can rent by the hour?

Yes. Of the 17 spaces listed now, 9 are marked by their hosts as suitable for brow and lip embroidery; NT$150–250 per hour (median NT$200); 8 have a beauty bed; in Taipei (1), New Taipei (3), Taoyuan (3) and Taichung (2). What each space is suited to is whatever the host has marked on its space page; for more figures, see the brow artists section of the price report.

What comes with a space?

Each host lists the equipment in their space, and it is shown on the space page and in the app: for example a beauty bed, beauty lamp, nail table and chair, shampoo station, restroom, air conditioning or Wi-Fi. Of the 17 spaces listed now, 16 have air conditioning, 14 have a restroom, 13 have Wi-Fi, 11 have a beauty bed, 11 have a beauty lamp and 5 have a nail table and chair. For anything not on the list (such as consumables or personal tools), message the host before you book.

Which cities have beauty workspaces for rent?

There are currently 17 beauty workspaces, in Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Changhua and Nantou. More spaces are being added; the app always shows the latest locations.

What spaces are there in each city, and roughly what do they cost?

Each city has its own page (Taipei beauty workspaces, New Taipei beauty workspaces, Taoyuan beauty workspaces, Taichung beauty workspaces, Kaohsiung beauty workspaces, Changhua beauty workspaces, Nantou beauty workspaces) listing its spaces, hourly price range and common questions. There are currently 4 in Taipei, 4 in New Taipei, 4 in Taoyuan, 2 in Taichung, 1 in Kaohsiung, 1 in Changhua and 1 in Nantou. For prices across Taiwan, see the hourly rental price report.

Why does the website only show the district of each space?

To protect hosts’ privacy and safety, space pages on the website show only the city and district, never the street address or the host’s details. The full location is in the SoloBeauté app.

Can I cancel or reschedule a booking?

You can cancel. Until a booking is completed, both the pro and the host can cancel it in the app; a completed booking can no longer be cancelled. The app has no reschedule button yet, so to change the time, talk to the host first, then cancel the original booking and book the new slot. If plans change at short notice, let the host know as early as you can.

Prices and payment

How much does it cost to rent a beauty studio by the hour?

Beauty workspaces on SoloBeauté currently rent for NT$100–350 per hour, and most are in the NT$150–200 range. Each host sets the price based on location, equipment and space type (open space, curtained partition or private room), and every space shows its hourly rate in the app.

How is renting a nail station or beauty studio priced?

Spaces on SoloBeauté are rented by the hour. Each space sets its own hourly rate, which is shown in the app. Book when you have clients, so pros who are just starting out can plan around their own workload.

How is rent paid?

Rent is currently paid in cash, directly to the host on site. You can agree with the host in the app whether to pay before or after your session.

How do I join SoloBeauté?

Download the iOS or Android app and sign up. You can then start looking for spaces and set up your own brand page.

Renting out your space

How do I rent out my space to beauty professionals?

Download the SoloBeauté app, sign up as a host, and create your space page in the app yourself, with photos, available hours and an hourly rate.

What information do I need to list a space?

In the app you mainly fill in: photos of the space (ideally the entrance, the interior and the equipment), the address, the space type (open space, curtained partition or private room), an equipment list, the services the space is suited to and those it doesn’t allow, the hourly rate (with optional half-day and full-day rates), the minimum booking time, and whether there is a camera in the space. Space pages on the website show only the city and district.

Can I rent out my space for just some of the hours?

Yes. List only the hours your space would otherwise sit empty and keep running your business the rest of the time. You can accept or decline every booking and set your own house rules.

Brand pages for beauty pros

How does a pro's brand page go public?

Fill in four things in the app: a display name, the area you serve, at least one service, and a profile or portfolio photo. Your brand page then goes live on www.solobeaute.com automatically, with no review to wait for.

Once my brand page is public, where can clients see it?

A public brand page gets its own address under www.solobeaute.com/beautician/ and also appears in the website’s pro directory, where clients can filter by city and service category. It shows your services and prices, portfolio photos, and the contact details you add, such as Instagram.

Can clients book a pro directly on the website?

Not yet. Consumer booking isn't open. For now, clients can browse a pro's brand page, portfolio and services on the website, then contact the pro through their own channels, such as Instagram or LINE.

About SoloBeauté

How is SoloBeauté different from a typical shared beauty studio?

Many shared studios are a single operator running its own locations. SoloBeauté brings together spaces listed by different hosts in 7 cities and counties, so you can compare location, equipment and price in one app. Pros can also set up their own brand page, so clients remember you rather than the room.

How is SoloBeauté different from studio rental listing sites and rental groups?

Typical listing sites and social media groups mostly offer monthly rentals or long-term sublets, and you have to ask about terms and details one message at a time. SoloBeauté focuses on renting beauty workspaces by the hour: every space lists its hourly rate, equipment, the services it suits and doesn’t allow, and its minimum booking time, and you message the host and send a booking request in the app for the host to confirm.

How is SoloBeauté different from subletting or renting a chair?

Subletting or renting a chair usually means agreeing on a fixed seat, bed or time slot with a salon, mostly by the month, with contract, deposit and available hours depending on the salon. Spaces on SoloBeauté are rented by the hour: each one lists its hourly rate, minimum booking time, equipment and suitable services, you rent only when you have a booking, and you message the host and send a request in the app for the host to confirm. To work out which option costs less, see hourly vs monthly rent; for lash artists, see studios for lash artists.

How do you spell SoloBeauté? Is it related to Solo Beauty or Soo Beauté?

The official name is “SoloBeauté” (with an accent on the final é); on the App Store it is written “Solobeaute”. Both refer to the same service. SoloBeauté is a Taiwan-based app for renting beauty workspaces by the hour and is not related to overseas apps such as Solo Beauty or Soo Beauté.
